Dating with keloids
Someone should make a keloid dating site. It sounds lame, but it would allow people to lose their insecurities. There are to many beautiful people who are to insecure to show there bodies and be free. A dating site would break the ice before its even created.

It is an interesting concept, but not sure it addresses the real issue. It sounds like you are uncomfortable with your keloids and feel as if you would be more comfortable dating a person with keloids. Am I wrong?Icon_smile

I agree. Your keloids do not define you! be confident and happy with yourself. Although this is easier said than done, the positive attitude helps Icon_smile

Hello segah92!

Welcome to the community Icon_surprised. A very interesting first post....Icon_nod.

I would indicate that there are far worse diseases and disabilities out there [trying to look on the bright side here....Icon_neutral] and those people that suffer from such examples are often able to get by without a 'specialist' website akin to what you're suggesting.

Also, your proposed website would indicate that it would be a site for keloid sufferers only [as non-kelodites probably don't even know what keloids are! Icon_rolleyes and therefore wouldn't even come looking for such a site]. That would in turn make it a website for a very niche amount of people, very much like this community, but then even more focused on 'dating' only. As such I think it would be pretty difficult to make it into a success.

Gotta agree with akwildman here [welcome to the forum, by the way Icon_surprised]. Your idea indicates kelodites, as I refer to us Icon_lol, would only 'date' other kelodites. I strongly disagree! In fact, I am living proof - I met my fiancée Icon_adoreHeart in 2007, and got engaged in 2011 Icon_surprised.

I have really bad keloids and if I can manage it, I'm pretty sure you can too Icon_toppa. What do you think?

Totally agree Icon_toppa. Spoken like a veteran...

As a side note, segah92, I hope this doesn't stop you posting on this topic - because I'm sure our friendly forum will be able to support you and advise you on and issues you may face around this area. We even have an Off Topic Forum here where you can post anything you like, and it doesn't have to be related to keloids at all Icon_thumbsup.

Thanks!

RE: Dating with keloids
I know this is a old post but hey thought I would post anyway.

Whilst It would be nice to meet others with Keloids why would you want to label yourself? It's like my son he has autism to me he is a amazing unique little boy, To others they just see the 'Autism Label' It's quite depressing. why not see yourself as you and not let scars define you.

I have had 16years with my scars I went through the bulling as a teen, the self-concious stage and then there come the acceptance stage. People see me now because I'm no longer obsessed that people are staring at the scars.
I guess what I'm saying is if you feel happy in yourself you would not have a need for a specific dating site. I have done the whole marriage, divorce and I am now In a longterm relationship with a lovely man I met on a dating site. I never mentioned my scars to me there was no need, If he cannot accept the scars then he was the wrong person for me. Funny enough it took him 6months to notice my bad scars and he accepted it completely
